Pipe Layer at VA SYD

Your Upcoming Role

As a pipe layer/network repair technician in the Contracting Unit, you will be part of a team with a dedicated team leader.

The team you will join consists of another pipe layer, an excavator operator, and a truck driver. Together, you form an efficient pipe laying team with the support and guidance of the team leader. Your tasks will include:

• performing excavation, pipe laying, and ground works on water and sewage pipes within the operational area
• performing service actions in connection with water and sewage preparedness
• digital reporting of completed work
• being on-call may be required with a response time of 60 minutes

The work is carried out in the form of projects or assignments of varying sizes and scopes. Working hours are from 7:00 AM to 4:00 PM, and the position is based in Malmö, but you will work in all municipalities served by VA SYD. The tasks are developmental, and the unit follows technological advancements in its field.

The Contracting Unit primarily works with contracting work on water and sewage networks and service actions related to water and sewage preparedness. The unit has about 40 employees, most of whom are pipe layers with various specialist skills.

For our Contracting Unit, we are looking for an engaged and proactive pipe layer with strong collaborative skills. Good service comes naturally to you, and you thrive in a job with a lot of customer contact. You have a good ability to plan your work and can adapt to changing circumstances. As a pipe layer, you will work with various types of pipe laying jobs, which means you need to be flexible. You express yourself well in Swedish, both spoken and written. You naturally support our environmental identity and our core values: quality, commitment, and responsiveness.

Your Experience

We are looking for someone with solid knowledge of water and sewage systems who is trained as a pipe layer/construction worker in construction and civil engineering, certified as a pipe layer, or has acquired equivalent knowledge in other ways. It is advantageous if you have several years of experience in the field, but most importantly, you have the desire and commitment to work as a pipe layer and meet the following requirements for the position:

• Experience in civil engineering work in the ground and external water and sewage
• Completed high school education (preferably in construction and civil engineering)
• Computer skills (as we work with digital reporting)
• Driver's license B
• Experience in plastic welding is advantageous
